Empathy and care shouldn’t come with an age limit. Yet too often, older adults are overlooked when it comes to support for conditions like autism, physical disabilities, and cognitive challenges.
That’s why we created Abilities Independent Community, Inc. (AIC). We believe every person deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling, independent life, including those aged 55 and older who are often forgotten in conversations about disability support. Whether someone is managing mobility issues, navigating neurodiverse communication, or living with conditions such as Down syndrome, we meet them where they are and walk alongside them toward a more empowered future.
Our work spans multiple areas of adult life: life skills coaching, employment guidance, housing navigation, relationship support, and personal development. We help our participants build confidence in everyday tasks like budgeting, time management, and housekeeping. We also offer resources that support job readiness, ease the transition to independent living, and encourage healthy, meaningful relationships, romantic or otherwise.
We understand that independence doesn’t mean going it alone. Our approach is rooted in dignity, respect, and the belief that everyone deserves support, connection, and the chance to thrive. At AIC, every voice matters, every journey is valid, and no one is left behind.
